Dont fear the box!
Boxed food gets a bad wrap, they say that it either lacks flavor or unhealthy. Although those claims can sometimes be true, the truth is you can do something about it. So for this week, I’m going to show you how to take boxed curry to the next level. Specifically, this is a brand of curry you can find at Walmart. The brand that we are going to be is S&B Golden Curry Sauce. So if you have never had Japanese curry now is the time to give something new a try!
Curry Direction Help
The first step in making this curry is to prep your veggies, personally I like to add some onion, potatoes, carrots, and broccoli if you can find it. Unfortunately, I could not find some broccoli but the carrots and potatoes did awesome by themselfs. For your veggies such as your potatoes and carrots, you want them in small cubes or bite-size pieces. Your onions should be julienned and your chicken thighs should be cut into bite-size pieces.
When everything has been prepped I like to saute my chicken with the onions to give them some color and create some fond at the bottom of your pan. I typically sautee the chicken for four minutes, then add in the potatoes, carrots. When you add your other veggies then you want to add in your chicken broth and water.
Let everything simmer until they are tender and the chicken is cooked, and add in your box of curry. Turn down the heat and let it dissolve and thicken. If you want the curry to be spicier, I love to add in some Japanese seven spice, it gives it a nice kick. Once it has thickened it is ready to be enjoyed with some plain white rice.

Ways to eat Japanese Curry
Eating your curry with white is a must! However, if you don’t like chicken then there is no need to fret because you can eat this in many ways. For example, you can do, beef, pork, or shrimp as an add-in. Or you can enjoy it with any form of Katsu such as tonkatsu. If you are vegetarian then you is your way to go, tofu absorbed the flavor of the liquid it is in so you know it will not be bland.
