Serrano Rice Video Tutorial
Detailed Directions
To make Serrano Rice is very easy; you are going to start off by adding oil to a hot pot.
To your pot, you will first add in your serrano and saute it for 1-2 minutes, then you are going to add in your garlic and again saute it for 1-2 minutes.
After your serrano and garlic have gained some color you are going to throw in your onion and once more saute for 1-2 minutes or until the onion turns soft.
Once your veggies have sauteed you are going to add in your washed rice. Your rice will need to saute for 1-3 minutes, you dont want it to be translucent but you also dont want to brown it or give it any color.
After you have sauteed your rice, you are going to add in your water and salt. Then you are going to want to put a lid on the pot and let it simmer until it’s halfway cooked. At the halfway mark, you are going to remove the lid and add in your corn and cilantro. At this point, go ahead and put the lid back on and let it finish cooking.
Once your rice is cooked, it is ready to be enjoyed. You can have this with your favorite seafood dish or my favorite Pollo en Achiote or Chicken with Annatto.

- Sauce Pot
- Wooden spoon
- Measuring cup

Ingredients
- 2 Tbs Oil
- 1 Serrano Sliced
- 1 Garlic Clove Smashed
- ΒΌ Cup Onions Thinly Sliced
- 1 Cup Long Grain Rice Washed
- 2 Cups Water
- Salt To Taste
Instructions
- In a pot add your oil, once hot add your sliced serrano and saute for 1-2 minutes.
- Than add your garlic and saute for another 1-2 minutes. Once sauteed add your onion and saute until soft.
- Once your veggies are soft add in your washed rice and saute for 1-2 minutes. Stir constantly to prevent any browning.
- Add in your water and salt, place a lid on your pot and let it simmer. When your rice has absorbed half of the liquid add in your corn and cilantro.
- Place your lid back on the pot and let it finish cooking. Once done it is ready to be enjoyed
